QU TO DROP THE U, NOW TO BE KNOWN AS QUINNIPIAC ‘NIVERSITY

In a press release by chief administrators, the rebranding of Quinnipiac ‘Niversity has entered its final stages, thus completing the arduous and worthwhile investment of removing the “U” from the school’s title. President John Leahy shared his thoughts on the matter in a post-conference interview.

“This is the age of modernity,” quoted Quinnipiac ‘Niversity’s proud president. “Being known as ‘QU’ was getting old. We deserve the chance to make a change in how the world perceives us. We are a community of professionals that can meet the demands of a hip, young nation, and this is our chance to prove just that.”

Now informally known as “Q,” the university has seen many changes since the founding of Quinnipiac College in 1929. After experimenting with “Quinnipiac ‘Ollege,” the school transitioned to university status in the year 2000, but not much has changed until now.

“The time is ripe to match the prestige of our nation’s top universities,” quoted Keith Rhodes, Vice President of the Office of Brand Strategy & Integrated Communications. “Schools like ‘UPenn’ and ‘Mizzou’ have some pretty nice brand names, so why not improvise for ourselves?”

Students have expressed mixed reviews about the rebranding of Q without prior knowledge. “When you think about it, Quinnipiac University is already a mouthful. I think it’s great to knock off some inconsequential syllables here and there,” stated Stacey McAllister, a sophomore English major.

“Does anyone see the conspiracy? They are taking away our letters one by one!” quoted a steamed Anthony Ramos. “Before you know it, we’ll be ’’’’’ipiac Uni’’’sity!”
