Everybody had their own individual problems with their college roommate. But for one student, her problems have made her turn to drastic measures.
Freshman film major Rebecca Bush met her roommate, a freshman nursing major by the name of Annie Torrance, through Quinnipiac’s MyHousing website. After texting all summer, the two finally met in person, only for Bush to realize that her roommate liked to talk. A lot.
Every day when Bush came back from classes, Torrance would begin talking about anything and everything that came to her mind, whether it pertained to Bush’s interests or not. After about three weeks of this, Bush began formulating a plan.
Her plan was to pretend that she had gone deaf after getting back from an extremely loud frat party. Every time her roommate would begin to tell her a story, Bush would loudly shout “WHAT?” every ten seconds, effectively cutting her off in the process. And after a couple of days of this, Torrance was completely convinced.
“Wait, really?” asked Torrance when told of this tragic affair. “I can’t believe this. I thought she was nice to me. This is exactly like the time my friends from High School, you know, Kate, Michelle, Emma, Kirsten, Veronica, and Ashley, so they started saying the same thing about how I talked too much and I don’t think I talk too much so I said to them ‘Why are you being so mean to me? I don’t talk that much.’ And they were all like…” It was at that moment when our reporter completely zoned out and started understanding exactly why Bush would resort to such measures.
When asked for comment, Bush simply replied, “WHAT?”
