With the success of sites like eHarmony, match.com and tinder, ancestry.com has also decided to jump on the bandwagon and launch their own dating app.
Ancestry.com executive John Patterson says that this will lead the company into a more accessible and relatable direction. “People love incest. It’s a hot topic in today’s pop culture. Look at the popularity of Game of Thrones. Jaime and Cersei Lannister are one of television’s hottest couples at the moment, and people want to bring these fantasy couples to life. Remember when everyone wanted to be like Luke and Leia?”
The dating app has already had a few success stories like Daniel and Phoebe Stohr who are currently in the process of planning their wedding.
“I never had any luck with dating apps.” Said Daniel, “So When my cousin suggested I try ancestry.com, I decided to give it a shot. I saw Phoebe’s profile and that she was interested in me too, so I ran right across the hall into her room and asked her out.”
Phoebe is just as grateful for this dating app, “I was getting so sick of the dating game and just wanted to jump into something serious. With Daniel we already had such a stable history. He was really understanding about all my issues with our parents, and we’ve already broken the fart barrier. The first date was so lovely, it was the equivalent of a third date.”
Ancestry.com feels very optimistic about this endeavor, with the primary source of users being located in the southern states. Arkansas native Mary Ann Smith described the experience as “life-saving, it provided a great alternative to marrying my brother; I always thought my cousin Jim was hotter anyway.”
