Immediately following President John Lahey’s planting of a bomb on one of Quinnipiac’s shuttle busses, Provost Mark Thompson defused the bomb, saving everyone on campus and foiling Lahey’s plan. This comes after Lahey laid off 16 faculty members while Thompson was on vacation, only for Thompson to work to get five reinstated.
Lahey called Thompson, warning, “If the York Hill shuttle goes below 20 miles per hour, it will blow up. Try to reinstate those bodies, Mark!” Thompson quickly went into action. Since it was the busiest time of day for students to go to campus, Thompson knew that two of the three shuttles would be on break, leaving just one possible shuttle to house the bomb.
Thompson ran onto the bus, only to find that America’s Sweetheart Sandra Bullock was driving the shuttle. On the motivation behind her driving a shuttle bus, Bullock was clear.
“I felt the call to me, deep in my bones. I knew I needed to get to Hamden, Connecticut,” Bullock explained. Thompson coached her through driving the bus, but Bullock did not need much help.
Taking off his dress shirt, leaving him with a white tank top, Thompson moved under the shuttle in an attempt to defuse the bomb. He succeeded, but only after the shuttle ran into Ray and Mike’s, giving everyone on the shuttle free sandwiches. Relieved and turned on, Sandra Bullock grabbed Mark Thompson and kissed him passionately as onlookers cheered and took pictures.
John Lahey, watching the whole thing via Q30’s live coverage, shrugged off the whole episode and laid off another nine History professors.
