In a huge victory for all people confused by basic English grammar, the letter Y has just been confirmed to be a vowel all of the time, not just some of the time.
“There was no reason for it to be flippy-floppy letter,” resident English speaker Pan Dassapera said, recently coming off his four-month stay in solitary confinement. “Just let me write my silly little letters without having to think.”
This event has actually caused riots in English departments at universities across the nation, with strong discourse coming from both sides of the issue.
The streets are saying that there will be a siege on the Merriam-Webster headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts this weekend.
“We didn’t have anything to do with this decision,” Merriam-Webster spokesperson Merriam Webster said. “Come hell or high water, we will stand our ground. The letter Y is not a vowel.”
They don’t have a choice. They are coming.
