5 New Courses Introduced for Quinnipiac's Fall 2023 Semester

As Course Selection for the Fall 2023 school year draws closer, students are struggling to meet their required credit amount. The Barnacle’s been there, so we’ve put together a list of 5 stress-free courses you might not have looked at yet!

  1. AR-530: Finger Painting

This art class is perfect for students who want a nice, easy break during their week. The course allows students to express themselves creatively through different assignments such as creating a hand turkey, a rainbow, and a tree, all while slowly getting high from cheap paint fumes. This course is taught by Professor K. Named and will be held MWF from 6:30 pm - 9:15 pm.

  1. DR-102: Intro to Being the Most Insufferable Person in the Room at All Times

A great choice for both theater majors and anyone who is convinced that all their friends secretly want to be them. This course teaches a wide variety of subjects such as ‘Accents That You Aren’t as Good at as You Think,’ ‘Making Sure Everyone Still Pays Attention to You When on Vocal Rest,’ and ‘How to Bring Up That One Time You Met Lin Manuel-Miranda in Every Conversation.’

  1. JP-162: Elementary Japanese (It's Just the Lyrics to Anime Intros)

The ideal course for self-proclaimed ‘weebs,’ JP-162 teaches students all the basic necessities for learning the entire opening song from your favorite anime. The syllabus requires students to complete weekly 4-page essays, leading up to the final project where they have to go to a party and successfully play the longest intro they know on aux without getting kicked out. This course also fulfills a language requirement.

  1. PY-511: Principles of Surgery and Emergency Medicine

This laid-back choice is 4 credits, perfect for anyone who’s just a few shy of the graduation requirement. It teaches students great everyday lifehacks such as the fundamentals of surgical disease, principles of life support technique, and care of acutely injured and critically ill patients. You even get to play around in the lab with activities like basic surgical procedures and various catheter placements!

  1. FLW-240: Quidditch

A newly-added course, Quinnipiac provides the perfect way to live out your secret dream of going to Hogwarts without having to follow TikTok “dream reality” tutorials every night (your friends and I have been talking about that, by the way, we know you’re convinced Draco Malfoy is your boyfriend and we’re all really concerned for you). Taught in the middle of the Quad every Tues/Thurs at noon, students get to perform Wronski Feints while dodging bludgers. This course will be taught by QU basketball coach Baker Dunleavy. Brooms are not provided.

The Barnacle wishes you all the best of luck on your upcoming registrations (unless you’re registering for the same courses as me in which case I hope you oversleep)!
