SPB ANNOUNCES MICHAEL JACKSON’S GHOST AS SPRING CONCERT

Shane Collins

Student Programming Board president Lauren Enea announced today that the ghost of pop icon Michael Jackson would be the performer at this year’s annual spring concert.

“We were talking about how we could get more people to come to the spring concert, and we said ‘why not do something impossible?'” said Enea after being cornered leaving an executive board meeting. “I mean, we could just have another great artist like Brokencyde or Vanilla Ice come, but every time we get someone great nobody shows up.”

Enea went on to say that the only way that they could get a large amount of people to come to the concert was to hold a resurrection ceremony to raise the King of Pop’s spirit from the grave.

Micheal Jackson, who suffered cardiac arrest and died in 2009, will be the largest-caliber artist to ever perform at the TD Bank Sports Center. When reached for comment, the ghost of Michael Jackson said that he’s “thrilled to be coming to QU.”

“I really can’t wait to see living souls again,” said the spirit, hovering slightly above a chair in a sitting position. “It’s been almost five years since I’ve performed live, since I died before going on my This is It comeback tour. It gets lonely in the bowels of the earth.”

“I looked like a ghost when I was alive, anyway. Nobody will notice a difference,” he added.

While excited, Michael Jackson’s ghost said that he’s concerned about the logistics of the show.

“Well, it’s obvious that I won’t be able to hold a microphone. I’m a ghost,” he said. “But what about projecting my voice? You can hear me now, but I’m not sure if the PA system will amplify my ghoul-lungs enough. In fact, being a ghost, it’s very possible that all electronic equipment in the room will go haywire.”

No opening acts had been announced at press time, but SPB is considering the spirit of Freddie Mercury of Queen, the reanimated corpse of Ray Charles, and the spirit Toby from Paranormal Activity.
