LEGAL STUDIES CLASS USES AESOP’S FABLES AS TEXTBOOK

Callahan College in Arrowhead, Texas recently released the required materials for their Legal Studies course to take place in the Spring of 2017. Students now have the option of purchasing the $250 dollar law textbook, or a $25 copy of Aesop’s Fables.

The president of Callahan College, Dr. Daniel Woods, explained that the decision was made when discussing the current political chaos occurring in the world, and the need to return to the values that make us ethical human beings.

In addition, he believes the college will head in a direction where students and professors have more input as to what they are learning. “No one should be told what is real and not real,” quoted Dr. Woods. “They should have the opportunity to decide themselves as to what they want to believe.”

Junior undergraduate Rachel Terrence was excited about the options for textbook purchase this year. “It’s my goal to spend less money on class materials. I’m even excited to use Aesop’s Fables instead. We read those in aftercare back in elementary school. I don’t need to SparkNote what I’ve been raised on. Easy A.”

Senior Jack Whedon has an opposing view. “I totally want to be taught using the proper textbook. My parents tried reading those fables to me when I was a kid, but I always doubted them a little bit. A mouse talking to a lion? Yeah right. Planet Earth 2 didn’t even show any talking animals.”

Over 150 students are registered for the course, with about half of those enrolled being pre-law students. Professor Emmanuel Stone, who is set to teach the course, shared his thoughts: “As long as the students are interested in the material, it’ll give me something to work with. Preaching to a bunch of uninterested millennials doesn’t do anyone any good.”
